Become A Member


Because of the lack of resources at the CJA headquarters, the CJA is unable at this time to maintain a robust subscription practice.

Instead, CJA International advises all those who want to become members to join their local branches or become a member of an existing branch, if they meet the branch’s requirements. See the list of existing branches elsewhere on this website.

Subscriptions – Full and associate membership:

£25 sterling a year for people working in Australia, New Zealand or the United Kingdom. $50 CAD for people working in Canada.

£10 a year – Bahamas, Barbados, Brunei, Cyprus, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Malaysia, Mauritius, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Trinidad, South Africa, Zimbabwe.

£5 year – rest of Commonwealth

Member organizations: £50 sterling a year.

Full membership is open to journalists whose principal earnings are derived from editing or writing for a journal, newspaper, digital, online, or broadcasting organization.

Associate membership covers those who work in fields closely related to journalism (for example, lecturers in journalism, government information officers, press attaches in High Commissions and public relations people with Commonwealth interests) or those who earn less than half their incomes from writing or editing as a journalist. Associates have no vote.
