The organizing of the Commonwealth Education Carnival (CEC) 2011 is further boosted with the inclusion of the Commonwealth Journalists Association (CJA) Sarawak Branch as its supporting event partner.

With this collaboration, CJA will assist in publicizing and promoting the carnival among all its member countries. This cooperation will further create greater awareness among the Commonwealth countries of the upcoming carnival.

CJA’s confirmation to support the upcoming carnival was made known by its Sarawak branch chairperson Caroline Jackson to the Managing Director of UComms (UCSI Communications Sdn Bhd) Gracie Geikie at a luncheon meeting today. The meeting which was held at UCSI Coffee Bar and Bistro in Kuching was also attended by CJA executive committee members.

Besides lending support to the carnival, CJA will also organize other activities during the carnival and among them including essay writing competition, quizzes and a training session.  CJA has also been given a slot to conduct talk on journalism during the carnival which will be held from November 18 to 20, 2011, at the Hills Shopping Mall. The opening hours for the carnival are from 10 am to 9 pm on Friday and 9am till 10 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The CJA is a professional association for working journalists throughout the Commonwealth and the Sarawak branch, which was set up n 2004, is the only branch in Malaysia.

The main objective of the association is to help raise the status and quality of
journalism by training journalists worldwide and to foster greater rapport among the journalist fraternity.

Meanwhile, the arrangement for the upcoming CEC is going on smoothly.  The three-day carnival which is held for the first time, will have exhibitors and educationists from various unis, colleges and skilled academies like hair salons, culinary schools to provide a one-stop  information centre for everyone. Various interesting programs have also been lined up for the visitors to enjoy when they come to the carnival.
